These four enthusiastic singers have a wonderfully diverse programme in store – all aimed at showing off tenor voices at their best! Calling themselves 'Classic Red', the Four Tenors like to compare themselves and Wilna to fine wines, assuring us of a perfect blend of sparkling, yet mellow evening of entertainment.
Lance Kotze, Ferdi Oosthuizen, Izak Viljoen and Niel Roux have earned themselves an enthusiastic following and deservedly so. Their choice for Saturday's concert is wide ranging, appealing to classical and popular taste. Neapolitan Medley, with which they usually open their performance with its lilting and well loved pieces - Funiculi, Funicula, O Sole Mio and Torna Surriento - will set the mood for the rest of the evening of solo and ensemble pieces.
And that includes the heartbreaking Smile from Charlie Chaplin's 1936 movie, Modern Times to the moving and beautiful Bring Him Home from Les Miserable. They'll sing themes from famous movies - from Titanic's My Heart Will Go On, This Land is Mine from Exodus and You'll Never Walk Alone from Rogers and Hammerstein's Carousel.
There is a selection, too, of theme songs from popular TV series and other long time favourites like John Denver's Perhaps Love. Remember Placido Domingo singing that with Denver? Then there is Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose musicals Chess and Aspects of Love provide some of his masterpieces. They will include tenor arias from the von Flotow's opera Martha, Verdi's La Donna è Mobile from Rigoletto, Gabriel Fauré's Art Song Après un Rêve and Vainement ma bien aimée from Edouard Lalo's opera Le Roi d'Ys.
And this is by no means all! Come, sit back and relax as these lovely tenor voices lift you to heights of sheer enjoyment in a magically musical mix.
