The PetroSA community Choir is now hard at work preparing for their ultimate dream; a spot at the National Choir Festival.
The PetroSA choir was established late 2005, when they prepared to sing at an employee’s funeral. Only PetroSA employees sang in the choir, but in 2006, they decided to take in community members too.
The choir has received many awards over the years for participation. These include events like the South African Post Office Eisteddfod and the Old Mutual/Telkom National competitions. In 2009, the choir obtained second position out of nine choirs in the National Choir Festival Provincial eliminations. They are also very proud to have been given the opportunity to perform during President Zuma’s and Minister Dipuo Pieters’ visit to PetroSA.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank PetroSA management for the support that they have given the PetroSA choir to fulfil their dreams. Without the support, we wouldn’t have been a recognised choir in the Western Cape region and the whole South Africa. Please keep up the good work for the all the events of PetroSA,” says Bongani
The choir is currently preparing for the regional championship 2013, with the aim to participate in the National Choir Festival.
Recently the choir conductor held a choral vocal audition at the COE and six candidates were successful. A further round of auditions will be conducted at the South Cape College for more possible choristers. We salute the choir in their search for new talent on a continuous basis.

The PetroSA Community Choir is hoping to grab a spot at the National Choir Festival.
