MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Schyler Booysen, a Grade 8 learner from Sao Bras High School, has been selected for the Shotokan ZA national team to represent South Africa at the 11th WKUF World Championship in Dundee, Scotland, from 13 to 16 July next year.
For Schyler to have been selected, his performance had to be outstanding. This year he won several titles.
During the WKUF SA Nationals in Gqeberha from 25 to 26 March he won:
- Gold - rotational kumite
- Silver - Kata
- Silver - Sanbon kumite
During the Shotokan ZA National Open Invitational Championship on 1 October in Krugersdorp, he won:
- Silver - Kata
- Silver - Sanbon kumite
For Schyler to compete in Dundee, Scotland, he must raise R55 000. His parents and karate instructor appeal to the community for financial assistance.
