MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - I am sure I am not alone when I say it is unbelievable that the end of the year is nigh, with Christmas around the corner and holidaymakers about to descend en masse, turning our quiet little town into a frantic frenzy.
But, the fact that the ladies' section Christmas mixed alliance has come and gone has made this very real.
The day was well supported and most of the players bought into the spirit of the occasion, dressing up for the event, with red and white being the dominant colours.
With a two scores to count alliance as the format, some were clearly in top form and must have had a little help from Santa. Returning a remarkable score of 97 points to take top honours, this covey included our generous sponsor, Chantel Grard from Chas Everitt, whom I am told had a superb game. She was ably assisted by Chanel van der Westhuizen, Hanlie and hubby Francoise de Villiers.
Second place went to Annette Meyer, Boesman Keyser, Gert Pieterse and Rassie van Niekerk with an also outstanding 95 points. Third place with a more normal, albeit excellent 89 points, went to Russel and Rene Hendry playing with Barry and Cheryl Tooth (nice to see couples can play well together). One point away in fourth place were Ina Swart, Regina Herbst, Ed Juta and Pieter Barnard.
Roelof Engelbrecht and Francoise de Villiers each had a nearest the pin and club manager Graeme Viljoen bagged two for the day.
A most enjoyable meal was prepared by our kitchen, which we appreciated in the newly-revamped downstairs club facility.
