MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - Three athletes from Eden excelled at the Laser-Run World Championships in Hungary in September, bringing back three medals.
Ulene Visser won silver (sixth overall) and her mixed relay partner, Bertus Myburgh, finished in 12th overall position in the individual event.
Johan Windt from Mossel Bay won a silver medal (individual) and gold with mixed relay partner Hannalie van Zyl from Gauteng.
It was the biggest competition ever organised by the UIPM, with about 1 000 participants from more than 60 nations.
Nearly 200 of the world's leading pentathletes were joined by more than 600 Laser-Run specialists and hundreds of supporting team members from countries in every continent.
For the first time the local organisers created a Pentathlon Arena where all five disciplines took place at the same venue, using the format that will be used at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and which was introduced 12 months ago at the UIPM 2018 Pentathlon World Championships in Mexico City, Mexico.
The new season for biathle (run/swim/run), triathle (run/swim/shoot) and Laser-Run (run/shoot) starts this month (October). For more information, see www.edenmpa.co.za or email edenmpa.chairman@gmail.com.
