MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Councillor Barnie Groenewald was today unanimously elected as speaker of the Garden Route District Council.
Councillor Groenewald, DA Chief Whip in Mossel Bay represents Mossel Bay in the district council.
Groenewald was a founding member and professional associate member of the Institute of Municipal Administrators, and also its First Deputy President.
He holds a B Juris degree and diploma; Institute of Town Clerks from the North West University and RAU. He previously served as Town Clerk of Potchefstroom and has extensive experience in local government.
Groenewald has been acting as speaker since the last council meeting.
