NATIONAL NEWS - A man was struck by lightning on his way from work in Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion, on Tuesday afternoon.

Erasmia police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said this happened between 18:00 and 19:00.

“The man died instantly in an open veld in Olievenhoutbosch, according to a report,” said Moloto.
He said police, alongside emergency medical services, responded to the scene and found the man dead.

Police said the man, whose identity is still to be confirmed, was suspected to have been on his way home from work.

Moloto said an inquest would be held.
