MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay's Henru Holloway of Point High School is in the top 48 of a national matric farewell outfit competition.
For his farewell, Henru wore a jacket on which was hand painted Vincent van Gogh's artwork, The Starry Night.
The jacket was bought at a second hand store and Henru's mother, Christine, replicated the famous masterpiece on the jacket, using acrylic paint suitable for multiple surfaces.
Record entries
Rapport newspaper, which runs the competition annually, had a record number of entries this year - more than 1 200.
Voting in the competition started on 3 November and ends at midday, 12:00, on 13 November.
To vote for Henru to win, SMS: MATRIEK, A2 and your first name and surname to 34581.
Code
A2 is Henru's code in the competition. Only one SMS per cellphone is allowed.
An SMS costs R1.50. SMSes not done properly will be disqualified.
You can also vote on the Netwerk24 website, if you are signed in to Netwerk24. Only one email per person will be allowed.
If you are not signed into Netwerk24, you can sign up for a seven-day trial and vote.
Because of the large number of entries this year, Rapport announced the finalists over three weeks.
Finalists
Henru was among the first set of finalists, announced on 20 October, which have a code beginning with A, the second lot, announced on 27 October, are the B group and the third lot of finalists, announced on 3 November, are the C group.
The first prize in the competition is R7 000, the second R5 000, the third, R3 000, the fourth, R2 000 and the fifth, R1 500.
