MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Local boxing star Qhamani Madolo (16) added another victory to his impressive record when he competed in the interprovincial championships in KuGompo City on Saturday 3 October.
Qhamani is a four-time Western Cape gold medallist, a two-time South African gold medallist and the 2026 Best Youth Boxer in the Western Cape.
The interprovincial championships brought together top boxers from all nine provinces. Representing the Western Cape, Qhamani defeated his opponent in the first round.
"This fight was very important to me," he said. "It is part of my preparation for the South African Youth Team ahead of the Zone 5 African Games in Mozambique in December."
His coach, Masimphiwe Qatu, was overjoyed by his victory and said this teenager's success is driven by his passion for the sport.
"We are very happy. We train in shacks without any sponsors, but we continue to produce champions in the Eden District and for South Africa. Everything we are doing, we are doing with love," said Qatu.
