MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Mossel Bay Station 15 New Year Beach Run has been revived and will take place on 11 January.
The costs are R40 for the five kilometre run and R80 for the 10 kilometre.
This race was initiated by one of the Mossel Bay station crew members, the late John Deacon, when he was also serving as deputy station commander in 2000, to raise funds for the Mossel Bay NSRI, but also as an awareness campaign for the NSRI.
The first New Year Beach Run took place on 1 January 2001.
This is a much-loved community event that was unfortunately paused due to the Covid 19 pandemic, but the NSRI is committed to making this year’s event a great success and would greatly appreciate the continued support of the local public, businesses and visitors to Mossel Bay.
An NSRI spokesperson said: "This is essentially a family fun event to start the New Year on a fresh and positive note, giving the runner a chance to reflect on the year past and the one ahead."
The 2025 beach run will take place on Saturday, 11 January at 07:00 from the main parking area at Dias Beach.
