GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The sentencing of local businessman and owner of Plaaswag Boerboele, Lionel Marais has been postponed to 18 October.
Marais was found guilty on 10 July in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on three counts of animal cruelty.
It was found that he had violated the Animal Protection Act 71 of 1962 after 68 Boerboels in various stages of neglect were removed from Plaaswag Boerboele in May 2022 by the Garden Route SPCA.
Marais appeared in court today, 16 August for sentencing however, the matter was postponed for the completion of a probation and correctional services report.
