MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It seems that regardless of how far from Mossel Bay it is, talent home grown in the town still shines.
Burchell Brinkhuis, whose roots run deep in Mossel Bay, has been selected to be one of the contenders for All Saints Middle East Sessions Rock Star.
The winner of this competition not only secures good exposure among the United Arab Emirates music and culture community, but there are also other attractive perks to help build a music career.
According to his father, Dexter, a well-known face in Mossel Bay, Burchell has been a true performer all his life. Photographs shared by this proud father, show Burchell, who performs under the name Burch Vaughan, singing passionately at a tender age.
Burch, in an interview, said he was always surrounded by music, growing up. "I grew up in a very lively household." Family and friends always encouraged him to pursue music. "I have always written lyrics."
He describes his genre as alternative, encompassing different styles of music such as pop, alternative and acoustic indie rock. "Many artists influenced me and helped me to become shamelessly myself."
Surprisingly, he says his choice of artists to work with would be Mötley Crüe. "Although they date back to the 1980s and 1990s, their unique sound charted the path for rock music."
He sees himself as an artist who will continue developing and growing.
Mossel Bay locals can support Burchell's quest to win the All Saints rock competition by voting for him at http://allsaintsmesessions.com/
