MOSSELBAAI NUUS - Hartenbos Heuwels resident Jannie Ras has been given a small once-off role in popular soapie, 7de Laan.

Two months ago Ras took part in an acting workshop given by actor and filmmaker Jacques Gombault in Hartenbos.

Those who attended were given training. Gombault took one of the acts that Ras did in the workshop and sent it to 7de Laan. That was how Ras got the part.

Ras said: "I'm not allowed to say what the role is yet." He heard about the workshop with Gombault through ACE Models, which is his agent. He flew to Johannesburg this week for the rehearsals and filming.

Ras owns a construction business and a surfing school in Mossel Bay.

He went to a ministry school in Bloemfontein, where he did music, drama and dance. "I have wanted to be involved in movie making, acting and TV for a long time. My dream is coming true, so I'm very excited," he said.
