MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - "Stop using dangerous illegal electrical connections; take them down."
These were the words of a KwaNonqaba community leader, who wishes to be known only by his first name, Tulani.
He implored residents of informal settlements in KwaNonqaba not to use the connections.
On Tuesday, approximately 300 dwellings in three informal settlements in Mossel Bay were legally connected to the electricity grid.
Ward councillor for Ward 1, Peter Lichaba said the legal electricity connections to Sinethemba, PA Camp and Gentswayo are proof that communities do not have to resort to violence or mayhem to have their basic needs met.
"We call on the residents of this area to disconnect the illegal connections that have endangered their lives. Fighting delays service delivery. Lighting up this area gave rise to a new dawn," Councillor Lichaba said.
