KWANONQABA NEWS - The Kwanonqaba Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 32-year-old man who was hit by a bakkie on the N2, near the Engen petrol station, last night, 8 July.
According to a spokesperson for the Southern Cape Police, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, the incident occurred at about 20:50 and resulted in the bakkie catching fire.
The Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management teams, the police and other emergency medical services responded to the scene. The victim suffered multiple injuries and the medical personnel declared him dead.
“The victim was reportedly crossing the road when he was hit by the vehicle. The investigation continues,” said Spies.
At the time of the incident, both lanes towards Mossel Bay had been temporarily closed to traffic while the emergency operations were in progress.
