HARTENBOS NEWS - There was a near drowning at Hartenbos Beach this afternoon.
Reliable sources told Mossel Bay Advertiser a boy was swimming with a friend, when he got into difficulty in the sea.
The incident took place in the surf in front of the restaurant complex at Hartenbos Seefront.
The Advertiser was told a member of the public went into the surf to try to rescue the boy. Lifeguards who were manning another section of Hartenbos Beach were called by the public to assist.
The boy was taken by ambulance from the beach to hospital.
