INTERNATIONAL NEWS - South African comedian Trevor Noah has made history in the United States by hosting his first ever episode of the now revamped The Daily Show in front of a live studio audience from New York.
The episode aired in the US last night.
Noah (31) took over from Jon Stewart who left the show in August after presenting it for 16 years.
Noah opened the show with a touching tribute to Stewart and said the whole experience has been surreal and said his predecessor taught him well.
“Truth is now I’m in the chair and I can only assume that this is strange for you as it is for me. Jon Stewart was more than just a late night host, he was often our voice, our refuge and in many ways our political dad.
“And it’s weird because dad has left. And now it feels like the family has a new stepdad…and he’s black.”
South African viewers can catch the show on Comedy Central tonight at 21:00.
