MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The National Sea Rescue Institute annual New Year beach run was initiated by one of the Mossel Bay NSRI Station crew members, the late John Deacon, during 2000 when he was also serving as deputy station commander.
The run was started to raise funds for the Mossel Bay NSRI, but also serves as an awareness campaign for the NSRI.
The first New Year beach run took place on 1 January 2001.
"This is essentially a fun event to start the New Year on a fresh and positive note, giving the runner a chance to reflect on the year past and the one that lies ahead."
The 2019 beach run will, however, take place at 08:00 on Saturday, 5 January and not on 1 January as usual.
Registration will start at 07:00 at the Hartenbos Drawwers clubhouse at Dias beach.
"Hope to see you there."
