The Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries gave the town 2 000 trees, of which about 600 have been planted so far. All the donated trees are indigenous.
"We are passionate about planting trees and greening our town even further," said director of Community Services, Elize Nel.
There has also been an active drive and ongoing effort to identify and select arid landscapes which could benefit from greening.
The Department of Community Services this week celebrated this milestone during a meeting, where Nel motivated the Parks team to keep up the good work in line with the five pillars of the GROW strategy. These are to grow governance, safety, the environment, economy and social regeneration.
