MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A sexually explicit photograph of an educator and learner, both at a local high school, that has been circulated after another unsuspecting learner allegedly came across a memory card containing this and apparently other explicit images of the same two people, have shocked the parent and learner community of D'Almeida.
Members of the Da Gamaskop community policing forum informed the Mossel Bay Advertiser of the photograph earlier this week and it is reported that by Tuesday, it was already widely distributed.
Upon enquiry to the Western Cape Department of Education (WCED), the department confirmed that it is aware that image has been distributed.
According to Bronagh Hammond, WCED director of communications, the principal of the school reported the matter to the district office.
"The WCED immediately arranged for a school psychologist and social worker to visit the school to assist the principal in the handling of the case. The matter has been referred to Labour Relations, as well as SAPS.
"The WCED takes cases of this kind extremely seriously. It will investigate and institute the relevant disciplinary procedures. The educator is currently not at the school," Hammond concluded.
