GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Oakhurst Insurance Eden Xperience 2017 is here.
This outdoor family festival that offers fun for the young and the young-at-heart takes place today, Friday 1 September, and tomorrow, Saturday 2 September, at Glenwood House School in George.
The school focuses on sharing with and caring for the community, environment and wildlife. It is proud of the special partnership with Oakhurst Insurance, the main sponsor, and the George Herald, that help make this event possible.
In recognition of their enormous role in the success of the Eden Xperience, a portion of the revenue is handed over to Oakhurst Insurance and the George Herald in support of their charity projects.
The Oakhurst Insurance Eden Xperience 2017 programme includes:
1 September
The Inaugural Xtreme Water Polo Festival starts at 08:00 and will continue on Saturday morning. Invited competing schools fielding teams of ten boys and ten girls hail from the Eastern, Western and Southern Cape.
The George Herald "Run with the Stars" offers a choice of two events: a 3km fun run / walk that starts at 17:30 and the 10km night run that starts at 18:00. Registration can be done from 17:00 to 17:45.
Food and drink will be for sale at the stalls and Gully from 16:00. Tickets will be for sale in the tent. Friday evening is packed with live entertainment. Come enjoy The Kings' performance together with food, drink and excellent company.
2 September
The Sportsman's Warehouse Trail Run takes runners through some scenic terrain around private farmland and forest over 18km and 9km. Both races start at 08:00. Pre-entries are available at Sportsman's Warehouse or online at www.edenxperience.co.za
For our young beginner trail runners, a shorter 3km run is on offer, starting at 08:15. Pre-entries are available at Sportsman's Warehouse or online at www.edenxperience.co.za.
The family festival also celebrates the spirit of good sportsmanship with more than 500 players participating at the Glenwood House sports fields. The interschools hockey festival takes place from 08:00 to 14:00. The food and drink stalls open at 07:00.
