MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The formal launch of the Anti-Bullying Academy took place in Mossel Bay on Friday, 6 May.
Mossel Bay residents who do philanthropic work were in attendance. The academy's Karen Gray (director) hosted the event at the Diaz Hotel.
Also present were Deon Lensing (secretary) and Marina Lensing (treasurer) of the academy.
In his speech at the launch, deputy mayor, Alderman Cliffie Bayman, said one of the municipality's key priorities was safety of residents. For that reason, it supported the Anti-Bullying Academy.
Town councillor Anton Dellemijn, on the mayoral committee, was also present at the launch.
A special guest was Vicky Kente, the actress from the television soapie, Getroud met Rugby, who was in Mossel Bay last weekend for a series of engagements.
Other role players and business people who will partner with the academy in fighting bullying were also present.
Deon Lensing is a Mr South Africa contestant this year. He plans to use the pageant as a platform to fight bullying.

Mossel Bay's Anton Siebert, who placed third in the national Mr South Africa pageant last year, was also present at the launch.
The SA Council of Business Women, The Myrtle Tree NPO which helps single mothers and police were represented at the event. Also present were two trauma counsellors, who will assist the Anti-Bullying Academy.
