It took 18 months of development and travel by some of the players to Kobe in Japan - where the jersey's manufacturer, Asics, is based - to complete the hi-tech apparel for the Boks.
The Boks will wear it as they try to win a third world title in England later this year.
The new kit was officially launched yesterday at Thunder City in Cape Town.
During the event, former Springbok loose forward Rob Louw joked: "Our jersey weighed 20kg when it rained."
The new kit is made of light- weight material, with the jersey weighing only 180g - which is 131g less than its predecessor.
