CAA satisfied with response to false plane hijacking

NATIONAL NEWS - The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that while reports of a plane hijacking yesterday turned out to be false, it was satisfied that in the event of a real situation, that officials would be prepared to deal with such instances efficiently.

An SA Airlink plane traveling from Cape Town with more than 70 passengers on board landed at the Wonderboom Airport in Gauteng and a hijack alert was set off accidently and all mandatory procedures were then activated.

The CAA's Phindiwe Gwebu said: "As a country I think we should be proud that should an eventuality happen we are ready to deal with it."
