NATIONAL NEWS - The Police Ministry has denied that Minister Fikile Mbalula is issuing direct instructions to Crime Intelligence despite Eyewitness News seeing correspondence showing the contrary.
Eyewitness News revealed this on Monday morning that Mbalula has effectively assumed command and control of the unit while sidelining acting National Police Commissioner Lesetja Mothiba.
The ministry’s Vuyo Mhaga spoke to 702’s Stephen Grootes this morning, saying that Mbalula is not trying to take control of Crime Intelligence.
“Not at all, except with the issues that I’m basically dealing with over how far are we to make sure that people who are in that unit are actually vetted and that’s the centre of everything.
