MOTORING NEWS - Captain Johan du Plessis of the police's Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) in Graaff Reinet says that their bakkie, which recently hit half a million kilometres, is still working as hard as ever.
The Toyota Hilux 2.0, nicknamed Voetjies, was purchased by the LCRC in 2004 for R86 000 and clocked the 500 000km mark in November last year.
In recognition of this excellent mileage, Voetjies was honoured with a 'Long Distance Prestige Award' certificate by Drostdy Toyota.
According to Du Plessis, to date the vehicle has needed very little repairs, has required minimal expenditure to keep it roadworthy and is still performing well.
