MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Seventeen surfers of The Surfer Kids Club and NPO in Mossel Bay will be participating in trials for the upcoming Grommet Games, a competitive surfing championship taking place in Muizenberg, Cape Town, this March.
The trials will span over two days, the first in Buffels Bay this Saturday, 17 January, and the second in Mossel Bay on Sunday.
The successful members of The Surfer Kids will join the team known as the Eden Surf Riders and compete in Muizenberg in age groups of U8 to U16.
The Eden Surf Riders currently consists of 24 surfers who were the champions of the 2025 Grommet Games.
The Surfer Kids' manager, Chuma Magusha, told Mossel Bay Advertiser the surfers have been extensively preparing for the upcoming trials with the help of one-on-one coaching and Grommet Games simulations.
The Surfer Kids is a non-profit organisation in Mossel Bay that aims to empower the youth through surfing.
