MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Transnet National Ports Authority’s (TNPA) Port of Mossel Bay is offering local learners an opportunity to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test at the Mossel Bay Dias and Port Festival, taking place on 3 and 4 February.
TNPA is looking for 20 teams, each consisting of four Grade 7 learners, to run market stalls at its Smart Youth Market, which is part of the festival.
Appropriate goods to sell include food and beverages, including cakes and sweets, as well as hand-made crafts.
However, the learners are required to sell products that they themselves have made.
Proceeds will be banked into the school’s bank account and 50% of the profit made by each team will be shared with the team.
At the end of the event, each team will be required to submit a financial report that includes costs, sales, profit and notes on lessons learnt and ambitions for the future.
The winning team will win airtime/data to the value of R500 per team member to help the learners research and develop business plans for their future success.
If your school would like to participate in this initiative, contact Sithembiso Soyaya (044 604 6242, 083 700 9907 or Sithembiso.Soyaya@transnet.net).
