MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 58-year-old man appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Friday, 3 March, with visible injuries after community members stoned him and his house following the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect was arrested in 7de Laan after he allegedly raped the victim at her house on 19 February.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect went to the victim's house while her parents were away.
Bail was denied because it is a schedule six offence and because the suspect not being in custory might traumatise the victim even further because he is her neighbour. It was also said in court it is in the best interest of the community to not let the suspect out on bail.
It is alleged that a medical report confirmed sexual penetration of the girl.
The case was postponed to 6 April.
