Moms, dads and their little ones were welcomed at the school gate by deputy principal, Danie Henegan, before meeting their teachers.

With neatly ironed uniforms and shiny faces, the Grade 1s quickly filled up the classrooms they would become familiar with throughout the year.
Teachers went the extra mile to welcome each child. Classrooms were beautifully decorated with welcome signs and posters hanging on the walls.
While some learners were shy, one little girl, Tahesha Appollis, confidently posed for photographs, before turning to speak to her teacher, Tehillah Scheepers.
When asked how she felt about the school year, Scheepers said that seeing the children's smiles and excitement was contagious.

"I'm nervous for the year, but also excited. It's a fresh start," she said.
Zakeeya Prins, another little girl with neat braids and a sweet smile, said she felt good about her first day.
