MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Local schoolgirl Dané Prins has shown that Mossel Bay residents - and young ones at that - can hold their own when it comes to singing.
Last night, Saturday 1 December, she came second in the Maverix Underdog Garden Route singing competition in the finals held at Na Donker, which is part of the ATKV complex in Hartenbos.
Dané impressed the judges with her two original, highly energetic rap numbers.
A learner at Curro Mossel Bay private school, her stage name is Onblusbaar and she showed that she is truly irrepressible.

Third place went to the powerful singer Anushka Henning, of Oudtshoorn. She captivated the audience by singing a Xhosa song in the beginning.
The winner of the contest was also from Oudtshoorn - Janine Fourie, who sang original numbers while she played a piano accordian.
All three artists were notable for their originality. Another Mossel Bay local, Juandré Barnard, also showed he has talent by making it to the top 12.
The judges were Mossel Bay singers Petronel Baard and Sunelle van der Linde, as well as Wouter van der Venter.
Among other prizes the the three winners scooped music and video recording contracts and attractive vouchers.
The people's choice in the contest, according to Facebook votes, was Tallulah Janson.
