KWANONQABA NEWS - The body of a 70-year-old man who was reported missing earlier this week was discovered by the KwaNonqaba Police in an open field adjacent to Protea Park, KwaNonqaba on Tuesday 10 March.
According to Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, spokesperson for the KwaNonqaba station, Jonguxolo Bayeni's family reported him as missing to the police the previous day.
The family realised Bayeni had left their home in the Transand informal settlement on Monday evening, after they thought he had gone to bed.
His daugher, Bongela, told Mossel Bay Advertiser the family suspected her father had dementia, but did not have official confirmation from a doctor.
The police and the family spent Monday night searching for Bayeni, but were unsuccessful before discovering his body in an open field the following day.
Kapp told the Advertiser that an autopsy is underway to determine Bayeni's cause of death, however he was found with no visible injuries to his body.
