MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - A young woman from Zone Seven in KwaNonqaba has a disfigured mouth after an altercation based on a misunderstanding.
Part of her lower lip was torn off by someone in a jealous fit, the details of which are sub judice because the matter will soon be heard in court.
The victim, Somikazi Velelo, was severely traumatised by the experience.
Not only did the incident affect her marriage and home life, she also cancelled her tertiary studies at South Cape College, where she was an N4 student.
"I was left scarred for life. For the rest of my life, I will carry the reminder of a very unfortunate incident that was wholly based on a misunderstanding.
"I want to warn other young people not to trust strangers easily, and to be careful not to visit people they do not know at their homes.
"My intention to help others has cost me dearly," Somi says.
She appeals to anyone who may assist her to get reconstructive surgery to contact her (083 762 1768).

"The matter will have to go its course in court, but all I want is to have a normal life again.
"I am now too shy to show my face in public, where I am subjected to sneers and stares, which are affecting my relationship with my family."
