MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It was a true hero's goodbye for Warrant Officer Pierre Botes as former colleagues, friends and family gathered for his funeral at the NG Moedergemeente in Church Street, Mossel Bay, on Tuesday 1 July.
Botes (55), who had been a police officer since 1989 and a member of the K9 Langeberg Unit for 31 years, died of a heart attack last Monday, 23 June.
Known for his love of animals by all who met him, his fellow officers, accompanied by their dogs, gave him a proper send-off.
Fond memories were shared and a final salute was given before Botes was laid to rest.
