MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Eskom, considering the increased and ongoing phase 6 load-shedding countrywide, requested the Mossel Bay Municipality on 13 January, to implement load-limiting measures in terms of NRS 048:9* in areas previously not affected by load-shedding.
Today, 16 January, members of the Mayoral Committee and the executive management of the Mossel Bay Municipality met to discuss mitigating measures to limit the impact of the extended electricity reductions.
Following the meeting, the municipality is engaging Eskom regarding implementing the load limiting, with a specific focus on electricity supply to the healthcare and business sectors, the latter including operations at the port, which will be negatively affected by the
load-limiting request.
Please note that load limiting WILL NOT be implemented today, 16 January. Once negotiations with Eskom have been concluded, the implementation date will be communicated. *NRS 048:9 is a code of practice that provides a national protocol for the management of the system
emergencies during severe load constraints to prevent blackouts.
