Three generations of Buffers

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - When meeting Laura and Shorty Hawes one is surprised to hear they are the grandparents of the young Hattingh Buff Boys.

Both Nikki and Grant have attended 15 Buffs to date and young Luke, aged 11, attended his 12th Buff this year. He was a developing baby in his mother's womb at his first Buff.

Luke is the youngest recipient of both five- and 10-year Buff badges and Dean - on his own motorcycle - has been awarded the youngest biker accolade at the Swartland Rally for three years in a row now.

Dean is seven years old and has now attended his eighth Buff. He was also heard the brrrmm brrmm of motorbikes from inside his mother's womb for his first Buff.

Dad Grant owns a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500cc cruiser, a 250cc scrambler and a 125cc pitbike. Nikki owns a BMW F650GS and a 140cc pitbike.

Luke has a Zooka 125cc pitbike, a Zooka 110cc pitbike, a Yamaha PW80 and a 110cc quad. Dean has a Yamaha PW50m a Suzuki Jr 50cc and a 100cc quad.

Both Nikki and Grant belong to the Cape Town Motorcycle Club. At present, the young boys wear smaller back patches which show their intention to join The Cape Town Motorcycle Club one day.
