The bakkie rolled several times.
Donald Kroon was on his way back from Dana Bay where he was installing cleaning equipment for a pool.
Kroon told Ilse Schoonraad, who was travelling behind him when the accident happened, that he must've fallen asleep at the wheel.
The accident happened at about 14:30 just outside Great Brak River in the direction of George.
A shocked Kroon was injured and complained of severe pain in his right arm, but managed to climb out of the vehicle.
Police and ambulance services soon arrived on the scene and cleared the debris on the road to allow the traffic to get past.
