MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The National Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), Mossel Bay Municipality, private partners and volunteers went into the streets in Asla Park in Mossel Bay on Thursday, 13 October, to raise awareness of the importance of washing hands to curb communicable diseases and save water.
The campaign was part of the commemoration of Global Handwashing Day which is on 15 October every year.
It is dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and using soap and sanitiser.
According to the deputy director: Water and Sanitation at DWS, Jacob Ngo, the department chose Asla Park for the campaign because there is a high prevalence of diarrhoea cases there.
