Girls' soccer a highlight of Easter tourney

MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - Soccer fans are reminded that the Bay Loans Junior Easter Soccer Tournament takes place from Friday, 7 April, to Monday, 10 April.

The tournament takes place at the Extension 23 sports fields, KwaNonqaba, in Mossel Bay.

Teams from throughout the Garden Route are taking part in the tournament, which is an annual event.

A Bay Loans spokesperson said the tournament was held "to foster team spirit and community engagement".

It was hoped the tournament would help to launch international soccer stars, the spokesperson said.

Tournament organiser Edgar Ntebe says the most exciting aspect of the tournament this year, is it is the first time girls' teams are included.

Each day the gates are opening at 09:00 and the teams start playing at 10:00.

The age groups for boys and girls range from U11 to U19.

The teams will be playing their hearts out, vying for the attractive prizes and trophies. "Expect to see highly competitive soccer," Ntebe says. The tournament is presented by Young Stars Football Club, in partnership with the Mossel Bay Local Football Association (MOLFA).
