MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) councillor Jeanette Gouws and other ACDP members held a workshop to show women how to work with cement.
Decorative and practical items were made, which can be marketed and sold to generate an income.
Gouws said: "The ACDP believes that empowerment respects each individual's God-given gifts and abilities and that each person has the power to care for themselves without government interference.
"The role of government should be only to create an environment that does not restrict a person's right to earn a living."
In Mossel Bay, Gouws has argued for homeowners to have the right to run businesses from their homes.
She said: "These rights are granted by God and protected by the Bill of Rights in the South African Constitution.
"Thank you to our hostess and workshop presenter Jeanette Dreyer."
