MOSSEL BAY NEWS - If you are taking some time off over the festive season and would like to read, here are three books by Mossel Bay residents which could interest you.
Margie Candy of Dana Bay has written a book on acupressure, titled The Shiatsu Studio's Acupressure for Common Ailments.
A summary on the back of the book describes it in a nutshell: "Using your own hands, many ailments can be eased, simply by knowing where on the body to apply pressure." On the subject of reading, Candy stresses, however, that this is not a reading book, but a reference book.
"I even have different protocols for different headaches, depending on where on the head the headache is," she says.
"A headache on the forehead, for example, is stomach related whereas one at the back of the head pertains more to stress." There are several chapters on headaches.
Pain
The book has chapters on the different organs and their various "systems" and on various types of pain and how to treat them, from finger to toe pain.
Candy became fascinated with traditional Chinese medicine while studying reflexology in 1994.
She studied shiatsu, which is basically acupressure, and she runs the Shiatsu Studio in Mossel Bay.

Setusimpumelelo Bonani Mkhize's book, Healing of the Heart, is a great help for those who need to deal with hurt.
Mkhize, a qualified, practising architect, and her husband, Sikhumbuzo, have been in ministry for decades, teaching, training, preaching and producing podcasts, giving workshops and mentoring teens.
They founded and own Agape Ministries International.
The book is based on the scripture, Proverbs 4:23 - "Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life."
Mkhize says that from the Healing of the Heart workshops she and Sikhumbuzo gave, she realised she had to write her book, to help people.
Promoted
The couple found themselves being promoted to ministry leadership positions at a young age, both gifted, yet inexperienced.
They did not know how to deal with the hurt in the ministry.
This book is a help for anyone who has been hurt while following their calling.
Mkhize deals with what a wounded heart looks like, and what a healed heart looks like and she explains what Proverbs 4:23 means for those who might ask: "What does it mean to guard your heart and how do you guard it?"

Luyandwa Matya, the pastor of the Asla Park church, Restoration House Bible Ministry International, has written a book, Cultivating a deep and intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Roux Meyer, known in church circles in Mossel Bay as a veteran intercessor, missions supporter, counsellor and trainer of pastors, describes the book as theologically sound and scriptural.
Teaching
The book can be described as a teaching on the Holy Spirit and is full of Bible references.
Besides pastoring his church, where the workings of the Holy Spirit are welcomed and fully evident, Matya is involved in various aspects of ministry and has a heart for outreaches and street preaching.
He has a full-time job as well as pastoring his church. For more information on Matya's book and to purchase a copy, contact him (073 205 4883 or luyanda.matwa@gmail.com).
