Fun times
On Friday 16 September the Glenwood House Auditorium performance was host to the local musicians and singers. After a prelude by the gently rhythmic strains of the Glenwood House Senior Marimba Group, the orchestra kept the audience's toes tapping with the theme from The Bridge on the River Kwai.
Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals was a hit, with the droll recitation of Ogden Nash's descriptive verses by conductor Norman Carless tickling the audience's funny bones.
The choir and orchestra's performances of Exultate Justi from Empire of the Sun by John Williams and Hallelujah from Christ on the Mount of Olives by Beethoven were musical pyrotechnics of the highest order.

The performance in Knysna was an interesting event, being held during load shedding. The orchestra and choir proved that they are able to work together to achieve a proper balance without electronic aid.
The purely acoustic sound is rarely heard in this age and was a special treat for concertgoers.
