According to Loretta Scheepers of Laylo Entertaiment, who regularly hosts pageants and other youth development events, this competition was brought into being due to the demand among the young men in Asla.
The contenders have been rehearsing weekly to stage the showcase at the Asla Hall on Friday, 6 July.
Adjudicators William Bennet (former male model), Vuyolwehtu Mfumbe (Mr Wes-tern Cape 2011) and choreographer Fredora Geldenhuys had a tough job deciding who would walk away with the title of Mr Asla 2012.
The very popular Cameron Leibrandt was the favourite to win, with first and second runners-up respectively being Gilbert Musariri and Sbu Nenzani. Tumi Brown was named Mr Personality.
Laylo Entertainment thanks the following sponsors: Zizanani, Bobby van Schalkwyk from Hartenbos Properties, Boland Park Hotel and Lodge, Bridal and Part Goods, Oxigym, Diaz Beach Guest House, Woolworths, Clicks Mossel Bay, Noël Philander and Unice Hannibol.
