MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - Louis Oosthuizen from Mossel Bay finished third in the 2018 Nedbank Golf Challenge (NGC) on the Gary Player Golf Course, Sun City.
The NGC, previously known as the Million Dollar Challenge, was played from 8 to 11 November.
A total of 72 players competed for a win in the richest purses in the game of golf, with $7,5 million up for grabs.
Oosthuizen, after leading until the end of the second last day of play, saw the Englishman, Lee Westwood take the lead with five birdies behind his name. The Spaniard, Sergio Garcia, and Oosthuizen on the last day had to play their best golf to make up, to top the leaderboard.
Westwood played a final round of 64 to finish 15 under par. Garcia managed to just keep ahead of Oosthuizen, going to the clubhouse with a final round score of 70, taking second place on 12 under par.
Oosthuizen managed third place with a final round score of 69, ending his play in the 2018 NGC with 11 under par.
Westwood equalled Ernie Els' record of winning the NGC for the third time in his career.
Oosthuizen's third place saw him pocket $469 250, with Garcia taking $832 750 and Westwood laughing all the way to the bank with $1 250 000 more on his winning list.
