As a result, 31 athletes from six sporting codes whose samples formed part of the 454, could now be banned from taking part in the 2016 Games in Rio.

The IOC has used the latest scientific analysis methods to conduct retests on 454 doping samples from Beijing that could have a significant impact ahead of this year’s Rio Olympics.
In a shock finding, 31 athletes have returned positive results which could see them sanctioned, while the IOC has also agreed to initiate proceedings against the 12 national committees concerned.
