MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Music lovers can look forward to an afternoon of orchestral and choral music when the Carpe Musicam! Concert Orchestra and Choir presents its latest programme, Winter with Carpe Musicam!, at the Curro Mossel Bay school hall on Sunday 12 July.
The performance is one of the ensemble's frequent concerts across the Garden Route, with concerts held in George, Mossel Bay and Sedgefield.
The orchestra and choir present four themed concert series each year, amounting to 12 performances annually.
The ensemble comprises more than 80 volunteer musicians and singers, many of whom balance rehearsals and performances with full-time careers.
It also includes several school learners who gain valuable orchestral and choral performance experience.
The winter-themed programme features a diverse selection of music, including a work by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, a contemporary interpretation of Antonio Vivaldi's "Winter", popular songs by The Mamas and the Papas, Linda Ronstadt and David Essex, as well as a performance by the orchestra's tuba trio.
Audiences can also look forward to John Williams' "Somewhere in My Memory" from the film Home Alone.
The Mossel Bay concert begins at 15:00, allowing concert-goers to enjoy the performance before nightfall. Tickets are available via the Carpe Musicam! website and at the door, subject to availability.
