MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man aged 35 was recently sentenced in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court to two years' direct imprisonment for contravention of a protection order and a common assault charge related to domestic violence.
The charges stemmed from an incident that took place in Extension 8, Mossel Bay, in January this year.
Da Gamaskop Police Station detective Constable Richard Nomnga was the investigating officer of the case.
Police management lauded the investigation and prosecuting teams for their commitment to dealing with gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) cases effectively.
The management said that incidents of GBVF are prevalent in many communities and the police remain committed to addressing incidents of GBVF.
It said this conviction was evident of these efforts to eradicate the scourge.
