MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Residents in the Tergniet and Reebok areas are watching the PetroSA rig, called the Orca, in the bay, wondering when it will be towed away finally.
Today there was a photograph on the Facebook group, Groot Brak Praat Saam and a comment that the tower on the rig is being dismantled from the top, however the photograph did not really show any dismantling taking place.
A man called the Mossel Bay Advertiser from a restaurant in Little Brak, saying he was looking at the Orca through binoculars and no dismantling was taking place.
The Advertiser contacted PetroSA for information on the Orca, but none has been supplied by PetroSA.
The new owner of the Orca, who bought the rig for the purposes of selling it for scrap metal, has agreed to speak to the Advertiser next week, when towing will be under way. He refused to divulge any information to the Advertiser before next week.
The Advertiser has received calls from members of the public, asking when the Orca will leave the bay.
