MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The murder of a 23-year-old Mossel Bay local, Keano Brown, has devastated the community, with messages expressing grief and condolences to his family and friends flooding social media this week.
Brown was stabbed in Cob Street, Ext 13, on Sunday evening, 6 July. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The man who allegedly stabbed Brown, the 30-year-old Claytin Williams, was arrested that same evening and charged with his murder.
Following Brown's death, scores of Mossel Bay locals posted messages of condolences, showing how well known and loved not only Keano was in the area, but also his family continue to be.
The news of Brown's murder, posted by Mossel Bay Advertiser on its Facebook page, garnered over 160 comments from friends, acquaintances and even strangers.
They posted about the heartache they felt, how kind he was, the respect he had for others, his beautiful smile and the love he had for his family.
A memorial was held at the Holy Nativity Anglican Church in Mossel Bay on Wednesday evening.
The funeral service will be held at the same church at 11:30 today, 12 July.
Williams is currently in police custody. He appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 8 July. The matter was postponed to 16 July for a formal bail application.
