GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Mossel Bay tap dancer Keira Meiring competed in the George Foundation of Arts' South Cape Arts Festival and won the award for Top Tap Dancer, receiving a trophy and a gift voucher.
The South Cape Arts Festival in George continues until 22 August and comprises dance, drama, music and art. The dance segment took place from 24 to 27 July.
Keira achieved 94% for her first tap solo piece and 95% for her second.
These achievements were only two days after she returned from the United States, where she competed in two competitions.
Platinum
Keira won two platinum medals for tap dancing and a gold medal for ballet at the International Performing Arts Competition (IPAC) in New York and she was a second runner-up at the International Talent Competition (ITC), held in Connecticut.
Both of these events took place at the end of June. Keira was ranked one of the top five junior dancers at IPAC. She is a dancer at Steps Dance Academy in Mossel Bay.
